How did WYD come about? What have been the key events? Here are some facts and interesting data about this mega-event that mobilizes the worldwide Church.
They have come, and they are contagious: Young Schoenstatt gathered around the Original Shrine to welcome the delegations from various countries on their way to WYD. The International Mass with the Youth was the highlight of the pilgrimage.
The sending forth of the youth and the entire Schoenstatt Family to WYD will take place on July 31st, in Lisbon, during the MTA Festival, with a Mass presided by Father Alexandre Awi Mello.
The International Encounter of the Schoenstatt Boys’ Youth, Ignis (Latin for “Fire”), will be attended by 532 participants from 18 countries. It will take place in Aveiro, prior to WYD.
