The Boys’ Youth of Brazil held its fifth national encounter in the southern part of the country. It is a time for unity and for rekindling the mission. That is why there was prayer, fun, reflections, and joint decisions to fulfill the motto “Daring with Christ, an ember that ignites”.
300 youth participated in the Night of the Shrine, organized by the Schoenstatt Youth in Germany. Under the motto: Take risks and trust! through various dynamics, the participants discussed how to take risks in life with confidence, based on the paths of faith in God.
In the days leading up to World Youth Day, some 450 young people from the USA and from Spanish and Portuguese speaking countries visited the birthplace of the Schoenstatt Movement. 900 girls gathered in Lisbon, Portugal, for the international meeting of the Schoenstatt Girls’ Youth, where several countries were present in preparation for World Youth Day (WYD).
There was an incredible turnout for the “Days in the Dioceses” that took place in Aveiro, Portugal just before World Youth Day, where thousands of young people accompanied by their bishops gathered to greet the MTA at the Schoenstatt Shrine in Aveiro in preparation for the worldwide gathering for WYD.
“Queen, we want to be your living crowns”, this is the desire of the young women from various countries who have gathered in Schoenstatt for the international encounter.
The International Schoenstatt Youth gathered in Lisbon in the final stretch towards WYD. The eve of the official opening of WYD was punctuated by the idea of sending forth, with the spirituality of the Covenant of Love and the graces of the Shrine.

How did WYD come about? What have been the key events? Here are some facts and interesting data about this mega-event that mobilizes the worldwide Church.
They have come, and they are contagious: Young Schoenstatt gathered around the Original Shrine to welcome the delegations from various countries on their way to WYD. The International Mass with the Youth was the highlight of the pilgrimage.
The sending forth of the youth and the entire Schoenstatt Family to WYD will take place on July 31st, in Lisbon, during the MTA Festival, with a Mass presided by Father Alexandre Awi Mello.
