Pope Francis releases his message for the 108th World Day of Migrants and Refugees, slated for 25 September, and says humanity must build our future with the help of people who have left their homes in search of a better life.
On Saturday, April 23, 2022, the eve of the Orthodox Easter, about 120 people, including refugees from Ukraine, hosts, volunteers and some who were interested, gathered at the Schoenstatt Pilgrims’ House for a get-together during the afternoon.
In the midst of the war in Ukraine, many are willing to help the refugees, who are in the millions. A Schoenstatt couple in eastern Ukraine recounts the anguish and the good works of many.
A few days after the outbreak of war in Ukraine, Kisszelmenc became one of the escape routes. The village has only a few hundred inhabitants. Overnight they found thousands of people on the streets trying to enter the European Union territory. The village came together to assist them.
Several Schoenstatt Fathers’ and Sisters’ centres in Poland open their doors to refugees from Ukraine fleeing the war.
Now Sisters of Mary and other Schoenstatt communities in Schoenstatt, the place of origin, are preparing to welcome people from Ukraine as well.
The consecration of Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary by Pope Francis will take place during the Celebration of Penance on 25 March in St Peter’s Basilica.

The distance from the Schoenstatt Fathers’ shrine in Warsaw to Ukraine is only 215 km. There are already 700,000 Ukrainian refugees in Poland. The Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary and the Schoenstatt Fathers welcome refugees and need our help.
Women face the challenge of acquiring a profound knowledge of our era, its arguments, its anthropological viewpoints, which are always changing, since human history is in constant change. Only God is unchangeable and therefore man has to become experienced in finding God in the worldly events, which is where He manifests Himself.
What can we learn from this war? Peaceful coexistence presupposes that both sides are willing to engage in dialogue when different points of view arise.
