Anchored in the Covenant – You are not alone!

The glimmering waters of the Gulf of Mexico and the gentle sway of towering trees welcomed 17 couples and 48 children from the Schoenstatt Family League of Texas, USA, to anchor themselves deeper in the Covenant of Love. They gathered from March 27 to 29, 2026, at the Lamar Shrine in the spirit of Schoenstatt’s founder, Father Joseph Kentenich. The workshop was organized by a dedicated team of volunteers and supported by the prayers of the Schoenstatt Family Federation.

Throughout the weekend, families explored the four temperaments through games and talks, thus building stronger bonds and gaining tools to become the “domestic church” that Schoenstatt strives to foster. A highlight of the retreat was Saturday afternoon, when four couples sealed their Covenant of Love and joined the Schoenstatt Family League as associate members. Their prayer and example inspired a desire for holiness in all who attended.

Children have a special place

The teenagers and their siblings shared their reflections on the weekend with enthusiasm. One young man spoke about how much he enjoyed spending time with others like himself, highlighting the fun he had playing video games and simply relaxing. A group of young girls expressed their happiness at meeting peers about their age from different parts of Texas who share their spirituality. Their only regret was feeling too tired at times, wishing they had more energy to extend the fun and make even more of the experience.

As “grace builds on nature,” the weekend was balanced with delicious meals, scenic walks, and time for rest. Spiritual life was enriched through Adoration, Confession, and a moving Stations of the Cross, which was performed by the children in costume. Families who participated in the weekend were also grateful to receive a plenary indulgence, a gift from the Holy Father to the Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary on the occasion of their 100th anniversary. After the Palm Sunday Liturgy and strengthened by the noon meal, families departed; their hearts renewed and firmly anchored in the Covenant of Love.
