“Meeting of Wafers” in Otwock, Poland

In keeping with the Schoenstatt tradition, on January 8, 2023, a “Meeting of Wafers” was held in the parish of Our Lady Queen of Poland in Otwock. One of the customs of our country is that Christmas greetings and wishes are combined with the breaking of wafers. That is why we call our Christmas celebration “Meeting of wafers”.

Holy Mass with a social gathering

Families from near and far, from newly founded groups and groups that have been in existence for years, accepted the invitation. The gathering began with the celebration of Holy Mass in the church.

The guests then proceeded to the parish hall on the first floor of the church, where Father Andrzej greeted the families gathered and gave everyone his Christmas priestly blessing.

Pastorela

Meeting of wafers

The highlight of the gathering was the nativity re-enactment (Pastorela), which this year was prepared by the Schoenstatt Youth themselves. If you have not seen this presentation, you are missing out on something, because it was fantastic and very original, especially because one of the scenes takes place in a delivery room.

The youth surprised the audience and moved some of them to tears, tears of joy of course. A big round of applause for the young people who demonstrated great creativity and extraordinary acting talent, as well as a great sense of humor.

Sweets, Christmas carols and St. Nicholas

Sweets and carols could not be missing at the gathering. A singing group from Zielonka, led by Sister M. Zoja, a multi-talented musician, added a special sparkle to the evening.

The most awaited guest for the youngest participants was, of course, St. Nicholas, who distributed many sweets among the children.

We thank all those who contributed to the organization of this special gathering, as well as the guests. With their presence and their commitment, they have given the Virgin Mary an indescribable joy, because the most beautiful gift for Her is when all those who feel united to Her are united in faith and build a joyful and strong community.
