Monsignor Leomar Antônio Brustolin, Metropolitan Archbishop of Santa Maria (Brazil), has called on his entire archdiocese to pray for the cause of beatification of the Servant of God Deacon João Luiz Pozzobon in the coming days.
The Metropolitan Archbishop of Santa Maria (Brazil), Monsignor Leomar Antônio Brustolin, has published a Pastoral Note on the progress of the Cause of Beatification of the Servant of God Deacon João Luiz Pozzobon. In the document, he details the next steps of the process in Rome with the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints.
According to Monsignor Leomar, the month of February will be dedicated to evaluating the Dicastery’s theological consultors, who must issue their opinions before March 4. The Archbishop expressed his joy for the cause’s progress and encouraged the ecclesial community to unite in prayer for this decisive moment.
“We praise God for his Providence and for the progress of this process of beatification, which is also a great sign of hope in this time of Jubilee,” the Archbishop said.
The Archbishop asks for prayers for the process
In his note, Bishop Leomar asked that all Eucharistic celebrations held in the Archdiocese of Santa Maria between February 1 and March 3 include a special prayer for the beatification of Deacon João Luiz Pozzobon. He also recommended that a Hail Mary be prayed at the end of each celebration.
Deacon João Luiz Pozzobon has been widely recognized for his evangelizing work and devotion to the Blessed Mother since initiating the Schoenstatt Pilgrim Mother Apostolate. His witness of faith and service continues to inspire the faithful in Brazil and worldwide.
“May Our dear Mother, so loved by Deacon João, accompany and inspire us in this unique moment in the Archdiocese of Santa Maria,” concluded Bishop Leomar.
PASTORAL NOTE
Dear brothers and sisters of the laity, consecrated life and clergy:
It is with great joy that I inform you that the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints is analyzing the cause for the beatification of the Servant of God, Deacon João Luiz Pozzobon. The month of February will be dedicated to evaluating the theological consultors, who will give their opinion before March 4. We praise God for his Providence and the progress of this beatification process, which is also a great sign of hope in this time of Jubilee.
In this context, we are invited to promote prayers, Mass intentions, and supplications so that the Lord may enlighten the work of the theologians who make up the commission. To collaborate in this discernment, I ask that a special prayer for the beatification of the Servant of God, Deacon João Luiz Pozzobon, be included in all the Eucharistic celebrations of the Archdiocese of Santa Maria between February 1 and March 3. I recommend praying a Hail Mary with this intention at the end of each celebration.
This significant gesture unites us, as a particular Church, to the intentions of the whole Church, mother of many saints, in the public recognition of the holiness of one who contributed so much to evangelizing and promoting the faith in our lands and beyond.
May Our dear Mother, so dear to Deacon João, accompany and inspire us in this unique moment in the Archdiocese of Santa Maria.
