Two Schoenstatt Fathers ordained in Brazil
The community of the Schoenstatt Fathers celebrated in August the ordination of two young Brazilians, Rafael Flausino and Felipe de Freitas Araujo (both part of the course "Unum in Christo Sacerdote") who received the sacrament of Holy Orders in their respective hometowns, in the company of family, friends, their course brothers and other members of the Schoenstatt family.

“That my joy may be in you” (Jn 15:11).
With this priestly motto, Felipe de Freitas Araujo was ordained as a priest on August 7, in a ceremony held in San Bento, parish of Araraquara in the state of São Paulo.
At the beginning of the ordination rite, Bishop Eduardo Malaspina addressed the then deacon Felipe and reminded him of the “responsibility of a pastor, through his example, to direct and guide Christ’s flock.” Speaking closely to the future priest, Bishop Malaspina recited the following verse: “All for the sake of a great love” – “This is why you are here”, he told Felipe. The bishop advised the newly ordained priest to constantly “remember, review and renew your priestly yes”; and that through this act, Felipe would become the Church of Christ through the example of his priesthood.
At the end of the reflection, the bishop mentioned joy as a strength against difficulties. He said that “true happiness is only possible through simpleness and love, and it must be the fruit of love and friendship with Christ”.
Felipe’s parents, Silvia and Carlos, mentioned that “the ordination was an unforgettable moment for all our family and the local Schoenstatt family”. They also expressed: “we are overjoyed to have witnessed the happiness he felt. We are reassured to know that Felipe truly responded to God’s call. We are very excited to know that he, in all his simplicity, from now on will be a father to many and, as the bishop said, it was all a product of a great love. That summed up the whole celebration and Felipe’s life.”
“I am with you always until the end of time” (Mt 28:20).
With this quote from Matthew’s gospel as his motto, Rafael Eduardo de Oliveira Flausino was also ordained as a Schoenstatt Father on August 14, in Our Lady of Health parish, located in Poços de Caldas, Minas Gerais. It was a very special moment when everyone gathered to witness another heart being surrendered to God.
Bishop José Lanza Neto reflected on Rafael’s priestly motto and spoke about God’s presence in the life of the Church, because God is with us every day. Bishop Lanza emphasized: “For this reason, it is important to sharpen our senses, to capture the presence of God within our midst.” Concluding his reflection, the bishop addressed Rafael, wishing him happiness, but not a human happiness, because it is fleeting and illusory, but the happiness of those who have found Christ and offer their life to fulfill his mission, just as Jesus said, “I am with you until the end of time.”
Deeply moved, Rafael’s grandmother, Maria Jozé Flausino said: “it feels like I am living a dream.” His parents, Aparecido and Margarete, and his sister Juliana Flausino spoke about this moment: “What we experienced was a great joy, it was a unique and special moment, in which all the years of preparation became a reality. Seeing him being vested and us being the first to receive his blessing, was a moment of extreme happiness. All his aunts, uncles and cousins were quite emotional and felt overjoyed as a family, being witnesses to the realization of his dream – our eyes could not hold back the tears. It was a family celebration, in which everyone was united in one heart, and it could be said that heaven touched earth. Now we only have to give thanks and pray for the fruitfulness of his priesthood for the Kingdom of Christ.”
