Get to know the Church Jubilee 2025 app

By: Jubilee 2025 - Official Communication

Since the last day of October, the official mobile app for the 2025 Jubilee Year, “Iubilaeum25”, is available for free download. The app, which will make registration for Jubilee events easier, can be downloaded from the App Store for iOS and from the Android Play Store.

The app, available in six languages, will allow access to all the latest news on the Jubilee, and allow the user to register as a pilgrim for the Holy Year and obtain the Pilgrim Card for free. Once registered on the portal, users will also be able to sign up for Jubilee events and pilgrimages to the Holy Door.

By navigating the simple and intuitive menu, users will also be able to ‘save’ the events they are interested in, access their personalized area more quickly and obtain the unique QR code needed for access to the Holy Door.

The Jubilee of 2025

Every 25 years, the Church celebrates its jubilee year – a custom taken from biblical texts.

In 1300, Pope Boniface VIII called the first Jubilee, also known as a “Holy Year,” since it is a time in which God’s holiness transforms us. The frequency of Holy Years has changed over time: at first, they were celebrated every 100 years; later, in 1343 Pope Clement VI reduced the gap between Jubilees to every 50 years, and in 1470 Pope Paul II made it every 25 years. There have also been “extraordinary” Holy Years: for example, in 1933 Pope Pius XI chose to commemorate the 1900th anniversary of the Redemption, and in 2015 Pope Francis proclaimed the Year of Mercy as an extraordinary jubilee.
