Capital of Grace

Not simply the great and greater, but the greatest heights ought to be the object of our increased efforts.

According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, divine grace is above human nature. Christ, through his passion and death, and through his resurrection, won an infinity of graces for the whole of humanity, a treasure that stands for the salvation of people. Only he, as the Son of God and Redeemer of humanity, could merit these graces for humanity.

Jesus entrusted this treasure in heaven to the Church so she could distribute it on earth through the sacraments. “By his sacrifice, he pours out the graces of salvation on his body, which is the Church”

(CCC, 1407).

Since its start, Schoenstatt’s spirituality has been based on human contribution united with divine initiative. In the Schoenstatt Shrines, God pours out his graces through Mary’s action and allows her to be moved by the human contribution.

Personal sacrifices, when united with Christ’s sacrifice, have immense value, and move the Blessed Mother to pour out the graces of redemption that Christ has merited for us and all of humanity. In other words, offerings to the Capital of Grace are gifts of love given to Our Lady so that she can distribute them to those in need.

Capital of Grace is the name given to the “treasury of graces” that the Blessed Mother distributes from the Shrine.

In other words, in the Schoenstatt Apostolic Movement, everyone’s imperfect gifts are offered to Mary, and added to her perfect gifts, she offers them to God, generating a fountain of graces flowing from the Shrine.

It should be noted that, from the beginning, the contributions to the Capital of Grace that the first Schoenstatt congregants and heroes offered were, above all, efforts towards their self-education to move Our Lady to settle in the Shrine and, from there, to distribute gifts and graces in abundance”.

"Everything that is made with love is a seed for a new world." J. K.
