Mexico Luz de María Missions
The missions in Mexico, “Luz de Maria” is a project for young people between 18 and 25 years old and is at national level.
Its task is the accompaniment and formation of communities of scarce resources in the liturgical acts during Holy Week. The main objective is to live the Holy Week Triduum. This is achieved through home visits, sharing the Gospel and activities imparted by the youth for children, youth and adults in the spirit of our Schoenstatt pedagogy.
During the visit during the week, the Fraternity (mission team) visits each home of the community. After reflecting the Gospel with the families, they also speak about the charism of Schoenstatt and the families receive a MTA picture for them to build an altar in their home.
The people of these communities are prepared in order to be able to develop what is related to the liturgy, Holy Week, etc., by themselves once the Mission has concluded in that area, as well as to be able to bond with the Blessed Virgin Mary and to the acetic means that Schoenstatt gives them.
The Pilgrim MTA of Schoenstatt accompanies us in the Mission. She wants to bless each home and in the encounter with her we explain the three graces of pilgrimage and we invite them to offer contributions to the Capital of Grace.
The missions in Mexico began in 2001 and the conductors are the male and female Branches of the Schoenstatt Youth. Approximately 5,000 people benefit from the missions each year.
To organize the missions, during the year the development and planning of Mexico Luz de María is carried out through a specialized team of more than 50 people (Schoenstatt Fathers, Sisters of Mary and the University Youth) who work throughout the country. In addition to the more than 500 missionaries who allow MMLM to become a reality.
For the realization of the project, each missionary supports through their work and with a fee of $75.00 dollars. In order to raise this money, different activities are carried out. Misiones México Luz de María is also supported to a great extent with economic and in-kind donations.
