A memorable moment for the Schoenstatt Family in Winnipeg, Canada, was the celebration of the 110th Anniversary of the Covenant of Love at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish on October 18.
Father William René Palacios presided at the Holy Mass in which those present renewed their Covenant of Love, four new missionaries joined the committed group of permanent missionaries who recommitted themselves to the mission with fervent emotion.
Queen of the immigrants and their needs
The special closing of the Eucharist was the crowning of the MTA as “Queen of the Immigrants and their needs”. This desire to crown the Blessed Mother arose because the Schoenstatt and Parish community is Spanish-speaking; immigrants from different Latin American countries, some who have been in Canada for many years, others who have arrived more recently and those new brothers and sisters who are constantly arriving, but they all face the same challenges, realities, problems and needs when immigrating to a new country that is so different from their own countries of origin.
The missionaries and families meet on the third Friday of each month to pray the Rosary as a community, to delve into different topics of the Schoenstatt spirituality and to have close experiences sharing warm community moments. After several of the meetings and interactions among the missionaries and families, who identify ourselves as little children of Mary, the desire to place our lives and needs in the hands of the Blessed Mother emerged. With confidence and a childlike attitude towards God the Father and the Victorious Power of our Mother Thrice Admirable Queen and Victress of Schoenstatt, the Schoenstatt Family of Winnipeg conquered the crown with a special capital of grace prepared so that the families could present their offerings and conquer the longed-for crown.
Father Rene along with the missionaries offered the crown to the Blessed Mother, crowning as well the Pilgrim MTA’s that once again resume their Marian journey in the hands of the missionaries, with the commitment of the entire Schoenstatt Family constantly at the service of the Blessed Mother as docile instruments in her hands, Crown for Crown!
Likewise, the great Covenant celebration took place in several cities and corners of Canada, this great nation filled with immigrants who especially bring the flame in their hearts for Covenant life, mission consciousness and who are enkindling life through the special grace received in our Latin American countries, a Marian Land.
