Heroic month dedicated to St. Joseph
Motivated by the jubilee year in honor of St. Joseph, the Schoenstatt Apostolic Women’s League in Mexico united in prayer
April 19, 2021
The Schoenstatt Apostolic Women’s League in Mexico united in prayer during the month of March through the internet to deepen their understanding of the figure of St. Joseph, uncovering his inspiring virtues.
Some parishes in Queretaro were encouraging parishioners to consecrate themselves to St. Joseph preparing them beforehand with several prayers. Inspired by this, the professional women asked themselves if they could do something similar within their branch and at the national level.
With the support of numerous prayers, they sent several “heroic kits” to the league members in the different Mexican states. The kits consisted of a prayer book, a medal, and a St. Joseph scapular. The goal was to unite in prayer every day during the month of March at 8:00 p.m., praying and meditating on the virtues of St. Joseph. This way, we conquered the medal and the scapular, which are the symbols of our consecration to him.
We will celebrate our official consecration on April 19, joining the Holy Mass transmission from the Faithful Heart of the Church Shrine in Queretaro.
This initiative has left a profound imprint in many of our members, while it has also increased our connection to St. Joseph. The connection as a branch on the national level has deepened as well. The league members were not the only ones who took part in the prayers; some families did as well, so that it became a family hour. The rosaries prayed daily and offered to St. Joseph were added and the total at the end of the month was 1290.
We will now share some testimonials of what it meant to get together every night for “St. Joseph’s carpentry workshop”:
“For me, praying the rosary with St. Joseph turned into a new experience which allowed me to get to know him better. I feel invited to learn from him in his silence paying attention to God’s voice, also responding with generosity to God’s requests. It also helped me to strengthen the bond with every one of my branch sisters”. T.L.
“Getting close to St. Joseph during this month had a special effect in my soul since it helped me overcome my father’s death which took place a couple of days before the feast of St. Joseph. We attribute to his intercession the peace and strength we felt during that moment”. M.M.
“I wasn’t even aware that there was a rosary or a consecration dedicated to St. Joseph, so everything was new and beautiful to me. I especially liked what happened on the 19th when each one of us wrote on a sheet of paper something we wished to give thanks for, offer or ask of St. Joseph. Each person had something very personal to share and this turned him into someone very close to us”. N.T.
All the efforts made during the month to be able to connect every night were worth it; even more so considering that we can gain the plenary indulgence by fulfilling the established requirements.
Our advisor, Sister Nancy, was always accompanying and supporting us through all the logistics involved in coordinating and forwarding the transmissions. We hope that more people realize the richness we have in St. Joseph and learn to imitate his virtues which were very accurately pointed out by Pope Francis in his apostolic letter “Cordis Patre”. Let us visit each day St. Joseph’s workshop and allow ourselves to be formed by him so that Jesus may reign forever more in our hearts.
